Darryl has over 16 years teaching experience in all types of classrooms. He is a former English teacher and recent online instructor in English Language Learning for a Korean University. He currently runs E-PROF, an E-Learning organization supporting educators in online environments. For his doctorate in Curriculum Development, he chose Arts-Based Educational Research (ABER) and incorporated poetry, photography and visual art in his explorations of cultural diversity and Canadian teacher identity. He is also one-half of a sketch comedy duo. Since 1999, he has performed across Canada and in the Melbourne and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. Though his travels are extensive, Darryl firmly believes that one of the best ways to learn about a place is to put on a pair of comfy sneakers, open the front door and start walking. He especially loves High Park for its history, zoo and hiking trails.

James_Thoem

 James Thoem

James spends most of his time observing and trying to understand intersections between urban and natural landscapes and how they came to be. While studying urban geography at the University of Toronto, his thesis looked at youth participation in the urban planning process, an interest that stems from his childhood exploring streetscapes and skateparks as a young suburbanite. Usually criss-crossing the city on foot, bicycle or skateboard, he prefers to follow personally uncharted routes, leading him down alleyways, through parks and plazas and into ravines.
